FORT EDMONTON PARK
*Morning storytelling workshops open to all
*Afternoon storytelling for all ages, at several locations throughout the park (storytelling included with Park admission)
*Sunday evening concert at Fort Edmonton Park

SPECIAL GUEST TELLER: Cindy Campbell of Nova Scotia
I was born and raised in Nova Scotia with roots in Prince Edward Island. I heard my first oral stories as a child while sitting around my grandparents kitchen in P.E.I. , listening to the adults talk. I heard stories about people, events and the history of a community. I especially loved hearing family stories or humourous stories. Singing and music weren't long after the stories in that kitchen and I loved the old songs which were really ballads and folksongs that told a story.
After 25 years of performing, I am foremost a storyteller but also a varied performer: singer, musician, puppeteer, actor, writer.

This workshop will help you navigate and find the hidden treasures in a new story or an old one. Learn constructive dissection of story parts or characters, then rebuild the story with satisfying improvements. Explore ways to combine several versions of a story or to weave fragments of one story into another one. Find out how to take small stories, anecdotes, folk lore and make a longer cohesive story. Discover the many ways to develop story combos, such as storysongs or how to enhance a story through trickery of voice.
